June 17: Not a Season of Spaciousness

It is not a season of spaciousness

but it is a time of rich abundance.

Leaves fill the trees so completely

that it is difficult to see the sky,

and there are so many living things

that it is hard to discern them all.

And, while the sky is still the sky,

something about its sunny blueness

in summer sometimes makes me long

for the blank grayness of November.
